Set up Back in stock alerts

Let customers ask to be notified when a sold-out product is available again, and send that message automatically.

In this article you will turn on the "Notify me" button on your store and the message that follows a restock.

Before you start

  • Products with inventory tracking enabled in Shopify, so the app knows when stock comes back.

Steps

  1. Open Automations → Create automation → Marketing, then choose a Back in stock template. Configure its messages and trigger before enabling it.
  2. Go to Widgets and enable the Back in stock widget. This adds the "Notify me when available" button to sold-out products on your store.
  3. When a customer clicks that button and leaves their email or phone, they join the waiting list for that product.
  4. When stock becomes available, eligible subscribers can enter the notification flow according to its trigger and conditions. Check the automation logs to confirm sends.
  5. To see who is waiting for which product, open the automation and click Subscribers.
Check the widget on a sold-out product and review the waiting list before relying on the restock flow.
